Stem Cell Therapy for Autism

We've seen parents break down and cry.

In anguish, the first time we meet, as they describe their child's inability to hug or hold eye contact – then with joy, when they see that spark in their child's eye.

That spark is often the first step in the battle against autism – which we at Novus Anti-Aging Center are fighting every day.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention autism rates have more than doubled since the year 2000. That means autism spectrum disorders now disrupt the families of one in 59 American children. Researchers can't explain why rates have been increasing, and biomedical science are still investigating potential environmental causes.

While they investigate causes, we're working on solutions. Decades of promising clinical trial results on Mesenchymal Stem Cells are making their way into the cells of autistic children – and into the hearts of their entire families.

As we celebrate each stem cell therapy success together, patients often tell us we've become like part of the family. That's what makes our work so rewarding.

That's why we apply all the latest research and technology along with heartfelt compassion and camaraderie to your customized treatment. Begin your healing journey today. Call our skilled, dedicated specialists at Novus Anti-Aging Center today at (310) 954-1450 or contact us here.

How do I know it's autism?

Autism can be as difficult to diagnose as it is to accept. It falls into a spectrum of complex neurodevelopmental deficits in:

  • communication
  • social skills
  • repetitive and/or restrictive interests
  • disruptive behaviors

What's behind these behavioral issues? Research has shown that children on the autism spectrum all present with:

  • diminished oxygenation in specific areas of the brain
  • chronic immunological inflammation in the gut

Traditionally, healthcare providers have attempted simply to modify children's dysfunctional behavior with pharmaceuticals that do not target the core symptoms and can have severe side effects.

Mesenchymal Stem Cell interventions, on the other hand, target the disorder on the molecular level. They aim to regenerate those damaged brain and gut cells.

How do Mesenchymal Stem Cells treat autism?

Autism Spectrum Disorders have been correlated with inflammatory and neuro-inflammatory cytokines. MSCs target these molecular mechanisms that cause inflammation:

  • abnormal neurotransmitter regulation
  • activated microglia
  • mitochondrial dysfunction
  • blood-brain barrier disruptions
  • chronic intestinal inflammation

Intravenous administration of umbilical cord MSCs has been shown in multiple clinical trials to decrease inflammation and may alleviate symptoms in autistic patients.

A study published in the Journal of Translational Medicine demonstrated that the children who received 4 intravenous stem cell infusions once a week performed better than their control group counterparts on The Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS), the Clinical Global Impression (CGI) scale and Aberrant Behavior Checklist (ABC) - without any adverse effects.1

When MSCs enter a patient's bloodstream, they:

  • activate T-cells to secrete proteins
  • open up blood vessels and form new ones
  • move cells out of blood vessels and into the tissues surrounding them
  • inhibit inflammation
  • regulate the immune system

Countless patients have come to us after trying pharmaceutical and behavioral interventions. These synthetic chemicals do initially treat symptoms, but then cannot turn themselves off, so they linger in the body and cause side effects.

That's why long-term drug use often increases susceptibility to serious infections like tuberculosis and sepsis, as well as kidney and endocrine dysfunctions like Type 2 diabetes.

At Novus, we work to help you leave behind pharmaceuticals and their side effects by nurturing your inflamed tissues with customized MSC therapy.

Where do stem cells come from?

To extract the most potent MSCs, regenerative medicine specialists isolate them from the umbilical cords of newly delivered babies. Cord tissue-derived MSCs pose no rejection risk because the body does not recognize them as foreign.

At Novus Anti-aging Center, we only use Mesenchymal Stem Cells from the highly potent Wharton's Jelly, a clear mucous tissue consisting of mucopolysaccharides (sugars) that contain multipotent MSCs with very high regenerative potential.

All of our stem cell products are registered with the FDA and processed only in FDA-approved labs using FDA guidelines.

MSC therapy at Novus

Your treatment journey includes: consultation, procedure, recovery, and follow-up.

During this visit, you'll discuss details of your child's health, behavior, as well as your goals and expectations. Your Novus provider will determine whether your child is a good candidate for stem cell therapy. If so, you'll schedule a date for the intravenous procedure.

On the day of therapy, your Novus therapist will give your child a local anesthetic to prevent any pain during the injections. Then, Mesenchymal Stem Cells will be administered intravenously in the amount that your provider deems necessary for your child's age and spectrum severity. Each session typically takes about thirty minutes.

Your post-injection recovery time will be minimal. It requires waiting for the local anesthesia to wear off. Your doctor will discuss your expectations again and offer advice regarding your child's specific case. Make sure you child avoids heavy exercise or stress and get lots of rest, as his or her body may take several weeks to fully regenerate.

You'll need to schedule follow-up appointments so your provider can document treatment progress, note the results, and check on your child's general health.

Depending on the spectrum severity, you may begin notices gradual behavioral changes within 6-12 weeks. Results tend to improve further for 6-12 months following your procedure. As with any treatment, results vary based on age, genetics, general health, stress levels, environmental factors, and follow-up care.
