You have a question?
Hormone Pellet Therapy for Women
You probably know that hormone imbalance can upend your mood and sex drive. But did you know it can also put you at risk for diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, thyroid disease, and even Alzheimer’s?
The group of glands that produce and secrete your hormones (your endocrine system) is like a complex biochemical lab, and there’s a lot you can do to prevent it from blowing up – including rebalancing the hormone levels that have gone off-kilter. The most effective way to accomplish that? Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) via subcutaneous pellets.
Bioidentical hormone molecules have the identical shape, make-up, and structure of your body’s molecules. That’s why BHRT provides the perfect “keys” to unlock your receptor sites and correct those multi-hormone imbalances that can cause your:
- weight gain & muscle loss
- bone density loss
- insulin resistance
- anxiety & depression
- insomnia
- incontinence
- vaginal dryness
- breast tenderness
- fibroids
- headaches
That’s a lot of symptoms to contend with – but only one root cause: hormone imbalance. Which hormones, how much imbalance, and which form of BHRT do they require? That’s what Novus hormone specialists have helped hundreds of women figure out, earning plenty of 5-star hormone pellet therapy reviews. If you’re ready to target the root cause behind these symptoms and eliminate them for good, book a consultation today by calling (310) 954−1450 or contact us here.
Why hormone pellets?
Often they’re convinced that the age at which they’ve to enter menopause and the challenges it will bring are pre-determined by their mothers’ genetic legacy. But that’s not the whole story. Hormones fluctuate with diet, exercise regimen, toxin levels, stress levels, and, most importantly, hormone optimization strategy.
Unlike some of their past providers who prescribed synthetic hormone replacement, we deliver hormones sourced from natural plants like yams, flax, and soybeans. Because bioidentical hormones match our body’s hormones molecule by molecule, BHRT does not present the same risks and side effects that make synthetic chemical hormones problematic for so many women.
Bioidentical hormones are:
- customized to the unique needs of each woman
- delivered in lower doses, special combinations, and various forms
- prescribed by your Novus specialist and made by a compounding pharmacy
- allergen-free and tolerated better by most women
There are many forms of hormone delivery, but after decades of research and success, we’ve discovered which is the most effective: subcutaneous (injected under the skin) pellets. BioTE pellet therapy enables us to deliver each hormone consistently, preventing the rollercoaster-like effects women who use creams, pills, and tablets often report.
After your specialist completes your hormone level testing and determines your prescription, it will be sent to an FDA licensed compounding pharmacy where skilled clinicians will formulate your hormones into highly compressed bio-identical pellets about the size of a grain of rice. They will also be tested for consistency and purity.
Your insertion procedure is virtually painless and takes only a few minutes. BioTE Medical has supplied over ¾ million insertions to date. Our highly-skilled specialists will gently and strategically insert each pellet beneath the skin and into the fat of your upper buttocks. Dosages vary – from 25 mg up to 200 mg – and depend on:
- your hormone baseline levels ( which can change daily and must be monitored)
- your weight
- your genetic predispositions
- your general health
- your exercise routine (the more cardiac output, the more hormones required)
It’s a virtually painless procedure that takes only a few minutes. The pellets begin to release a small amount of hormone at a fairly constant level – a lot like your glands would if they were functioning properly.
Are you the right candidate?
Which hormones do women need to optimize?
Biochemical commands are sent to every tissue, organ, and body system to control your growth, musculature, bone density, metabolism, and sexual response via these hormones:
- Estrogen – You probably know how estrogen imbalance can cause hot flashes, mood swings, and vaginal dryness – but estrogen can also be too high, and the list of “female hormones” is longer than you think.
- Testosterone – Testosterone levels are just as critical for women as they are for men. This hormone is created from cholesterol and helps stimulate other hormones to generate energy, muscle mass, and libido.
- Progesterone – This precursor to estrogen and testosterone also supports normal thyroid function. It can affect your breast health, cardiovascular health, and nervous system health. Supplementation can ease anxiety, enhance memory, boost brain function, and optimize sexual pleasure.
- DHEA – This hormone supports libido like testosterone does. It also helps build bone mass, lower cholesterol and triglycerides levels, improve mood, and increase alertness.
How much of each hormone will you need and for how long? Every woman requires a different balance of estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, and DHEA – and the perfect balance depends on her age, general health, genetics, diet, lifestyle and environmental factors.
Like sex partners, our sex hormones must act together, in tune, on pitch, to just the right degree in order to create a biochemical reaction that optimizes sex, health, and happiness.
When will I see results?
Your imbalance didn’t appear overnight, and either will its resolution. As the type and intensity of your dysfunctions, your path to hormone optimization will be unique.
About 7-10 days after your procedure, the BHRT will kick in, seeping into your bloodstream, very gradually easing you back into the active routine and sex life you’re used to.
Many women report some relief in as little as two to four weeks. Full optimization, however, may take up to six months. Depending on your age and how quickly your body metabolizes the hormones, you may not need a re-pellet for 3-6 months. Most of our patients’ can wait 5-6 months before coming in for new pellets – that means only 2- 4 pellet insertions per year.
This is one thing you can’t take your BFF’s word for, as each woman’s healing journey will be different. That’s why pellet therapy at Novus Anti-Aging Center is a highly customized procedure. Our hormone experts tune in to your individual, often subtle requirements before beginning it.
How is hormone level testing performed?
- medical history
- diet
- lifestyle
- exercise routines (to determine your doses)
- medications you’re taking (which may have contraindications with BHRT pellets)
- daily stressors and stress levels
A genital exam may help diagnose or rule out non-hormone related medical conditions that could be at the root of your symptoms. Finally, your Novus specialist will perform one or more of the following to assess your base hormone levels:
Blood test
A small sample of your blood will be sent to a lab for close analysis to determine all your hormone levels. A blood test, however, may not detect them completely. Why? Your sex hormones in the bloodstream are 95-99% bound to carrier proteins, and in this form are unavailable to target tissues.
Blood serum test
Serum is ideal for testing peptide hormones such as FSH, LH, prolactin, fasting insulin, and thyroid hormones, including reverse T3, as well as thyroid antibodies. It is also used to measure sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) and, less commonly, cortisol binding globulin (CBG).
Saliva test
Saliva testing measures the amount of hormone available in the tissues your hormone is targeting – the bioavailable amount. That’s why saliva testing may better detect levels associated with specific hormone excesses or deficiencies. Saliva tests also help monitor hormone levels during hormone replacement therapy to help tweak them as needed.
A growing body of evidence suggests that saliva tests can more accurately determine levels of testosterone and DHEA. This non-invasive sampling method requires spitting into a plastic tube to collect saliva at home at specific times throughout the day.
Urine test
Your Novus practitioner may administer an FDA-approved urine test called the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) test. FSH manages the menstrual cycle and menopause.
After reviewing all lab results, your age, genetics, environmental conditions, general health and tolerance of symptoms, then measuring your baseline hormone levels, your specialist will determine whether or not you need BHRT.
Even if it’s determined that you do not need it at the moment, aging, lifestyle and environmental factors may alter this need over time, so we recommend coming back for periodic testing.
Remember, your hormone levels fluctuate throughout the week, even the day. Level testing only provides a starting point which helps us determine next steps. Follow up tests will also help monitor your rebalancing progress for the rest of your therapy cycle, so make sure not to miss any of your scheduled appointments.
